Event Description:
(Morristown, NJ) An audacious intersection of street art/graffiti and cut paper collage, the latest show entitled “Connexons” will be on the menu at End of Elm + Art in Morristown this summer. This new exhibit of artist Joseph Castronova’s work will run from Tuesday June 6th, 2023 until Sunday July 30th, 2023. Fellow artist David LaMorte will be a featured guest artist. The artists’ reception be on Wednesday, June 21st, 6:30pm-8;30pm. The public are welcome to attend and see the show during the venue’s business hours, but parties who wish to be seated for dinner are strongly encouraged to reserve a table beforehand. Joseph Castronova is an artist and educator. Currently, he is Artist in Residence for 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church in Metuchen; he is a member of faculty at The Institute for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ Castronova has adapted his spray paint street style into large scale wall hung paper assemblages that burst with color and movement. Hints of faces, amoebas, architecture, and suggestions of other organic forms play amid rendered scripts and tags – all writhing in the complex surface design of the artist’s constructs.
David LaMorte is an illustrator and painter who also incorporates cut paper manifolds and origami structures into his work. He embraces cartoons and street art motifs, incorporating the world of street-based “sticker game”, skateboard culture and guerilla art techniques. LaMorte is an also an educator and lives in Morris County.
